Valentine’s Day was only one week ago. Whether we re-watched our favorite rom-com, gazed a little longer into our loved ones’ eyes, or indulged on every heart-shaped treat lining the aisles of the stores, many of us felt the need to somehow make February 14 a little more special. But what if we could make that feeling last all year long with no candy hearts or S.O.’s required?
We don’t need a designated holiday, a bouquet of flowers, or another person to feel loved. Let’s love ourselves!
If we can learn to love ourselves, we’ll find a new kind of love that lasts all month, year, and LIFE long. Let more love into your life each day by loving yourself more in these 3 ways:
- Love what you have. Practicing gratitude is one of the best ways to love what you have. Try keeping a gratitude journal and write about what makes you smile each day, something you’re grateful for, a person who helped you… the possibilities are endless (but here‘s a great resource with a few gratitude journal prompts if you need it!). By appreciating the small things, you’ll start seeing yourself and your life more positively. More love for life = more love for you!
- Love who you were. If you find yourself holding on to past mistakes, let yourself off the hook. Accept that what’s done is done and all you can do is rebuild and move on. Start using positive self-talk and let more love in!
- Love who you can be. Just as you have to accept the past, you need to embrace the future. Look forward to the future instead of fearing it. You are full of so much potential! Decide now who you want to be… and then LOVE that person. 🙂
Self-love looks good on you! Let American Heart Month be the catalyst for more self-love today and every day.
And in the mean time… enjoy another chocolate heart for us, okay? 😉
Throughout the month of February, the Happiest Blog community is celebrating American Heart Month by focusing on making our hearts healthy and happy (both literally and figuratively). Find new heart-healthy recipes, workouts, and inspiration each week.
